Active medical device is a type of medical device classified according to product characteristics. Any medical device that relies on electric energy or other energy sources instead of energy directly generated by the human body or gravity to perform its functions. In addition to active medical devices, medical devices in a broad sense also include passive medical devices and in vitro diagnostic reagents.
Passive medical devices refer to medical devices that do not rely on any electrical energy or other energy sources, but are directly generated by the human body or gravity to perform their functions.
